About the Role

The Admissions Counselor plays a vital role in facilitating the recruitment and enrollment of students at George Mason University. This position requires a strong ability to communicate effectively with prospective students and their families, as well as a keen eye for detail in reviewing applicant files and making admission decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit new undergraduate students through various outreach activities, including presentations, college fairs, and high school visits.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with schools and community colleges to promote George Mason University's academic programs.
  • Review and analyze applicant files to make informed admission decisions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to prospective students and their families, responding to inquiries and addressing concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to develop and implement recruitment strategies and events.
  • Stay up-to-date on all relevant information and policies related to the institution, including admissions procedures and academic programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer service and communicating effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in the use of related technology, with a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license and ability to travel extensively.
