Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for coordinating and delivering nursing care to residents while providing oversight and support to clinical staff. The scope of practice may vary based on state-specific regulations under the Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN nursing program.

Licenses/Certifications:
Current LPN/LVN license in the state of employment.
Valid CPR certification.

Experience:
A minimum of one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Document the condition and nursing requirements of residents.
2. Implement physicians' orders accurately and in a timely manner.
3. Delegate nursing tasks to team members based on residents' needs and staff qualifications.
4. Supervise, guide, and assess junior staff and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
5. Administer medications and conduct treatments for assigned residents, ensuring proper documentation as required by regulations.
6. Participate in orientation and ongoing training for staff.
7. Assist physicians with special tests and procedures within the limits of the state’s Nursing Practice Act.
8. Ensure economical use of supplies and maintain cleanliness and safety of equipment.
9. Report and document significant observations and reactions related to residents.
10. Coordinate nursing care for residents scheduled for therapies or procedures by other departments.
11. Respond to emergencies and implement necessary measures for sudden changes in residents' conditions.
12. Interview potential staff and provide recommendations for hiring. Participate in counseling, disciplinary actions, and staff terminations as permitted by state regulations.
13. Oversee the nursing unit, including scheduling and directing nursing staff as allowed by state law.
14. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
15. Foster positive interpersonal relationships and enhance staff morale.
16. Ensure that inventory and supplies are adequately maintained and communicate needs for support services.

- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and all organizational levels.
- Capacity to respond swiftly and decisively in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of effective training methods for clinical personnel.
