Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Crane Technician to join our team. As a Crane Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing industrial crane and hoist equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities:- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to diagnose and repair equipment
- Perform mechanical and welding duties as needed, meeting all specified requirements
- Troubleshoot various sizes and types of cranes, determining and implementing corrective actions
- Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-reliance and problem-solving skills
- Provide accurate and complete information to the Service Manager for the installation, replacement, or ordering of replacement parts
- Operate machinery in both shop and field settings, including saw, fork truck, cherry picker, high lift, torch welder, transit, and laser beam equipment
- Complete documentation with relevant information for reports to engineering, production, or customers, utilizing digital camera and docking station
- Remain informed of industry regulations such as OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and others, periodically refreshing and updating knowledge
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists across various customer sites
- Consult with customers on repair and safety matters, offering recommendations to enhance their material handling applications
- Document findings and provide customers with corrective recommendations, including issuing written safety notifications for observed or known safety concerns
- Generate sales leads during service calls and report them to the service office as per established guidelines
- Complete electronic documentation using company digital tools, obtaining customer signatures and acceptance
- Maintain accurate, legible service reports and other necessary documents, submitting them promptly following established guidelines
- Ensure company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets are maintained in safe working condition
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of accredited apprenticeship or vocational program, or 3-4 years on-the-job training
- Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance background
- Knowledge of industrial production machinery, OSHA regulations, and relevant industry codes
- Valid Driver's license and DOT Certification
- Ability to work with supervision using established guidelines and procedures
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of American Crane
- Conduct self in a manner that represents ACECO and GRIT Matters
- Participate in trainings as required to maintain skill level
- Communicate effectively with all customers (internal/external), including understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in English
This is a field-based position, requiring travel to various customer sites. The successful candidate will be required to work in varying environmental conditions and adapt to a flexible schedule.
