About the Role

The Procurement and Sourcing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of production materials. This position is responsible for coordinating with corporate procurement and identifying local and regional suppliers to optimize the supply chain.

As a key member of the purchasing team, the Procurement and Sourcing Specialist will supervise purchasing agents and be accountable for the execution and continuous improvement of business processes. This includes mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, risk identification, and service level expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews requisitions and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information.
  • Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
  • Leads, coaches, mentors, and trains staff to ensure effective procurement processes.
  • Determines method of procurement, prepares purchase orders or bid requests, and reviews bid proposals.
  • Maintains procurement records, including items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Approves invoices for payment, verifies specifications of purchase requests, and counts inventory items.
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users and meets production requirements on a daily basis while controlling inventory levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 8 years of work experience in purchasing and/or costing.
  • Effective time management skills, strong attention to detail, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
  • Demonstrate a good work ethic based on principles of honesty and integrity.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
