DispatchHealth is seeking a Chief Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (Advanced Practice Provider or APP) to enhance our expanding clinical team.

The Chief APP at DispatchHealth embodies the DispatchWay by offering clinical guidance to the APPs.

Through the processes of recruitment, training, and continuous performance evaluation, the Chief APP will foster safe, high-quality care that leads to better patient outcomes.

This role involves collaboration with the Market Manager (MM) and the Regional Medical Director, as well as cross-functional teamwork with Central Services teams, to improve the experiences of patients, providers, and partners.

This position includes both direct patient care and administrative responsibilities.

The ratio of clinical to administrative duties will depend on various factors, including market size and office count.

Providing clinical services during scheduled shifts as an APP is a fundamental aspect of the Chief APP's responsibilities.

Details regarding the specific area of assignment will be discussed during the interview process.


The ideal candidate can reside in either the Baltimore, MD or Washington DC area, but must be open to regular travel between the two locations.


Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Hiring

Develop a highly effective and engaged clinical team of APPs by collaborating with Central Services/

Talent Acquisition to conduct interviews and hire APPs.


Ensure clinical readiness during the interview process, coordinate MATs (medical assessment tools) as necessary, and complete the Clinical Validation Process for all APP hires.


Assess New Graduate Applicants and work closely with the Clinical Center of Excellence (CCOE) to support new graduate APPs as clinically appropriate.

Scheduling


Scheduling is primarily managed by Central Scheduling in accordance with Scheduling Policy, with the Market Manager as the main contact for market-specific scheduling needs.

Assist with APP scheduling and staffing when escalated by the Market Manager or Central Scheduling.

Promote scheduling practices that align with Scheduling Policy and APP contract terms.

Training:

Orientation for New APPs:
Conduct in-office training and arrange clinical orientation/shifts in partnership with CCOE and People Services.

Perform competency-based evaluations in collaboration with CCOE.

Assess readiness for independent clinical practice

Provide support for initial clinical shifts

Clinical Monthly Meetings:
Utilizing the Centralized Template, complete a presentation deck with local specific information. Champion the information contained in the deck.

In partnership with the Market Manager and Medical Director, conduct monthly clinical meetings with all staff.

Performance Management:
Achieve targets for clinical metrics, which may change based on patient needs.

Meet additional KPI goals primarily tracked by the MM with assistance from the Chief APP for any outliers.

Oversee clinical inbox management

Conduct performance reviews for all APPs on a regular basis

Business Development Support

As time allows, participate in clinical meetings with vendors/preferred partners alongside the Market Director and Community Engagement Managers as needed

Quality, Safety, and

Patient Outcomes Advocate:


Perform professional services for no less than the minimum number of clinical shifts as per the Chief APP contract to support patient care needs in the market, understand clinical experiences, gain insight, and maintain credibility with clinical teammates in the market.

Champion a culture of safety by collaborating closely with the Quality Department to support initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, quality care, and patient outcomes


Encourage the use of an event reporting system to track potential patient safety issues, manage and evaluate complaints, and identify and implement policies and procedures that improve patient safety, quality care, and outcomes.

In collaboration with the Market Manager and Regional Medical Director, address patient and/or partner complaints and concerns. Participate in APP coaching and service recovery as necessary.

Conduct chart reviews to promote evidence-based medical practices and adherence to DispatchHealth clinical pathways


Work as part of a clinical care team with a DHMT (Medical Technician) and individually, as appropriate for the service line, to deliver care in the patient's home through our innovative in-home care service lines (i.e., Acute Care, Bridge Care, Advanced Care, Tele-presentation, and others).

This involves being in a mobile unit and driving or riding in a company vehicle to the place of service.

Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in the ED, UC, or family practice

Current unrestricted state licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Nationally board certified (current)

Current BLS required, ACLS certification preferred

Prescriptive authority and DEA

Ability to document in electronic medical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy

Ability to adopt and champion technological tools to optimize provider workflow

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others to achieve common goals

Cultural competency

Knowledge and ability to perform therapeutic interventions such as splinting, suturing, wound care, and minor surgical procedures

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

Critical thinking skills utilizing evidence-based standards of practice

Expertise in clinical skills related to acute care, chronic conditions, and injuries

Ability to identify and proactively solve problems

Ability to thrive in a patient-focused environment

Previous management and clinical leadership experience preferred

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Complete required drivers training upon hire

Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds

Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs easily while carrying equipment

Ability to work a varied schedule with evenings, holidays, and weekends required
