Job Summary

Tarrant County is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator IV to join our team. As a key member of our road maintenance and construction team, you will be responsible for operating complex and specialized heavy construction equipment involved in the maintenance and construction of County roads and city projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate different types of complex, specialized/heavy equipment, including but not limited to, cranes, excavators, and bulldozers.
  • Perform road maintenance or construction related duties while operating equipment, including but not limited to, grading, paving, and repairing roads.
  • Transport equipment and supplies to and from the job site, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Ensure and implement traffic control standards at work sites, inspect and manage precinct sign inventory and replacement.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment or trucks and report needed repairs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain job site safety standards, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Develop work schedules, evaluate lower-level employees, and prioritize jobs to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Order supplies and materials as needed to support project requirements.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess a High School diploma or GED and three (3) full-time years of related work experience, or seven (7) full-time years of related work experience. A Class A CDL is required upon hire, and a tanker endorsement is required within thirty (30) days of hire. Advanced knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance is also essential.
