Job Description

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Journeyman Service Technician to join our team in the United States of America. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of our customers by providing expert installation, maintenance, and repair services for commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

As a Journeyman with Carrier, you will have the chance to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to deliver exceptional results. Your knowledge of Commercial HVAC systems will be essential in working on a variety of installations, repairs, and maintenance projects.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions and make recommendations.
  • Perform regular scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units.
  • Install, replace, or repair equipment, including calibrating thermostatic controls, worn heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning parts, and repairing or replacing low- and high-pressure liquid lines.
  • Assemble and install metal ductwork.
  • Assist in planning and designing new installations of heating and air-conditioning systems.
  • Provide estimates of materials required.
  • Repair and replace damaged parts and equipment.
  • Read blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
  • Read and interpret City, State, and EPA regulations.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and their representatives.
  • Safely operate company vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Recognize risks and safety hazards commonly found in HVAC operations and implement appropriate controls to ensure safe work. Collaborate with management personnel to maintain safe working environments.
  • Identify situations that require escalation or elevation to Supervisor or Manager for guidance or need to request additional support.
  • Rig and properly set up gantries for safely lifting equipment, overhauling pumps, chillers, etc.
  • Participate in all required safety training and actively carry all state or national required licensing.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years practical working experience in the HVAC Industry.
  • 5+ years of experience working with air-cooled systems.
  • This role may also require passing an examination regarding the abilities and know-how of Building Trades Journeyman, conducted by an Examining Board.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, crawl, sit, squat, or extend periods of time.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Possess and maintain a valid and current Driver's License and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier.
  • Must either be a current union member or willing to join a union.
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is around $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and experience. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes payment for all travel time incurred and an on-call schedule that helps ensure better work-life balance, with on-call rotation being held every 7-8 weeks in most locations.
