The primary objective of this role is to support the department manager in organizing and delegating tasks to team members to achieve departmental targets.

Under the guidance of the Supervisor of Manufacturing Operations, the technician will assemble mechanical units, fabricated components, and/or electrical systems to create subassemblies, assemblies, or complete units utilizing hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and various equipment.

The role involves fitting, aligning, calibrating, and adjusting parts and mechanisms to comply with tolerances and operational specifications; repairing units or products that do not meet standards.

While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee will frequently encounter moving mechanical parts, heights, and potential electrical hazards, necessitating the use of protective equipment to ensure safety.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees production processes and emphasizes continuous improvement.
  • Offers specialized technical support to team members.
  • Collaborates with team members to implement effective solutions.
  • Guides and assists team members in understanding shop orders, job procedures, specifications, quality, safety, housekeeping, and 5S practices.
  • Participates in onboarding and training processes to ensure the success of new employees.
  • Reviews all work to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Provides feedback to the Department Manager during performance evaluations.
  • Communicates operational status promptly and accurately to management and peers.

Position Requirements:
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
  • Proven ability to lead and achieve results through others.
  • Capability to read and interpret production schedules.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; completion of secondary/trade school technical and/or general business courses is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in assembly or construction, or a combination of technical schooling, on-the-job training, and work experience.
  • Proficient in operating hand and power tools (e.g., pipe cutter, wrenches).
  • Ability to apply significant torque with hand tools throughout the workday.
  • Skilled in reading a tape measure.
  • Able to lift and/or move heavy components, frequently up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 35 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity to perform coordinated hand and finger movements for assembly tasks.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and manage pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods on a concrete surface.
  • Ability to walk, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in English communication (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Good mathematical skills are preferred for interpreting drawings and specifications.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
