We are seeking a skilled CT/X-Ray Technologist to join our medical imaging team at Family Hospital Systems. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Operate CT scanners to produce detailed cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
- Follow precise physician orders and adhere to safety regulations to protect patients, staff, and yourself.
- Prepare patients for CT scans, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
- Position patients correctly to obtain optimal imaging results while prioritizing their safety.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques and adjust the CT machine to optimize scan quality.
- Administer contrast media orally or intravenously as required, following strict protocols to avoid complications.
- Monitor patients during scans, being alert to any signs of distress or complications.
- Review and evaluate images to determine if additional scans are needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting all procedures completed and any issues encountered during scans.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on CT equipment to ensure proper functioning, reporting any malfunctions or inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare team members to discuss diagnostic imaging and refine scanning protocols.
- Implement radiation safety measures to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
- Assist in developing and improving CT scanning protocols and procedures.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in CT technology and diagnostic techniques.
- Knowledge of PACS systems and related technology.
- Assist with cross-departmental duties as needed.
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- State licensure to perform radiographic procedures (if required by the state).
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Prior experience in CT imaging is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficient with CT equipment and able to perform routine maintenance.
- Knowledge of radiation safety guidelines and protocols.
- Ability to position patients properly for CT scans.
- Familiarity with contrast materials and ability to administer them as needed.
- Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to keep accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to assist patients of varying mobility and weight.
- Capability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing education and training.
- Proficiency in using healthcare software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
