Gate Guard

Builders FirstSource is seeking a Gate Guard to join our team. As a Gate Guard, you will be responsible for controlling traffic to and from our industrial plant and grounds, ensuring the accuracy of merchandise leaving the gate, and maintaining a safe and secure environment.

• Open and close the gate to allow entrance or exit of employees, truckers, and authorized visitors.
• Check credentials or approved rosters before admitting anyone.
• Issue passes at your discretion or on instructions from superiors.
• Direct visitors and truckers to various parts of the grounds or buildings.
• Inspect outgoing traffic to prevent unauthorized removal of company property or products.
• Check the accuracy of merchandise as reflected on the invoices, counting each item.
• Direct customers as to how to resolve errors when merchandise does not match the invoice.
• Maintain daily paperwork in accordance with procedures.
• Write credits for merchandise being returned.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise located in the general area of the gate.
• Write hand-written invoices for express gate checkout.

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Knowledge of building materials helpful.

• Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
• Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
• Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.

• Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and work near mechanical equipment on a daily basis.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
