Farm Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Farm Laborer to join our team at Dunsmoor Farms LLC. As a Farm Laborer, you will be responsible for operating farm equipment, manually cultivating and harvesting onions, and performing various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our farm.

• Operate 100hp tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and forklifts to weed, harvest, and sort onions.
• Manually cultivate and harvest onions, using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, shears, and knives/machetes.
• Pre-harvest work will include pulling and moving onions in containers to clear paths for harvest machines, moving bins as required, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment.
• Monitor fields for plant infestations and use treatments appropriate for use in both preventative and infestation situations.
• Clear and maintain irrigation ditches, record information about crops, such as yields, or costs.
• Perform maintenance or alterations to the grading line and bagging equipment as conditions warrant.
• During onion harvest, use crop-specific equipment such as field lifts, onion toppers, and trucks rigged for floatation.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair harvest equipment as needed.
• Post-harvest activities include grading vegetables to certain specifications, operating bagging equipment, loading tractor trailers with finished product, repairing onion boxes, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing grading and bagging equipment as necessary.

• A minimum of 3 months experience in performing tasks described in this order within an onion farming environment.
• Ability to comprehend simple oral and written instructions in English.
• Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Driver requirements.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Repetitive movements, extensive walking, extensive pushing/pulling, and frequent stooping/bending.

Please note that all workers are required to drive, and driving duties will be limited to operation of farm equipment such as tractors and/or tractor-drawn machinery. All required driving will be on farm equipment and on farm property and/or farm roads.

After hiring, the employer may conduct random drug tests at the employer's expense.
