Job Overview

The Caton Companies, a leading player in the heavy civil construction sector, is currently seeking a Licensed Surveyor to enhance our operations in Virginia. We are committed to delivering impactful projects that benefit our communities, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards and specifications.

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Licensed Surveyor is to provide essential technical guidance to supervisors and field crews, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, codes, and design specifications.

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of surveying experience within the heavy civil construction industry
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Trimble & Topcon, GPS technology, and industry best practices
  • Skilled in interpreting civil construction blueprints
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License
  • Willingness to travel for project assignments
  • Must hold a Virginia Land Surveyor License

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to address practical challenges and manage variable conditions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of surveying techniques and construction methodologies
  • Capability to read and comprehend safety regulations and protocols

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret survey data and perform necessary calculations
  • Utilize GPS technology and tools to define property boundaries and features
  • Develop and oversee project layouts and construction data management
  • Promote adherence to safety standards and practices

Work Schedule and Compensation

This is a full-time role with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, with opportunities for overtime compensation. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills, accompanied by benefits including 401(k) and health insurance.
