Job Summary

The University of New England is seeking a skilled Housekeeper to join our team on a per diem basis, working 2nd shift. As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus buildings, including residence halls, classrooms, and administrative offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean floors, including vacuuming, sweeping, dust mopping, washing, stripping, waxing, and buffing. Shampoo carpets. Wash windows, walls, chalkboards, and trash cans. Dust furniture, fixtures, and woodwork.
  • Trash and Recycling: Collect and empty trash receptacles, and pick up litter in and around the buildings.
  • Bathroom Maintenance: Clean, sanitize, and stock the bathrooms; change and clean shower curtains.
  • Lighting and Electrical: Replace light bulbs. Perform routine maintenance of electrical, heating, vents, and fixtures.
  • Snow Removal and Miscellaneous: Assist in snow removal. Move furniture. Perform other related duties as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: High school education desirable.
  • Experience: General knowledge and skills related to routine housekeeping and maintenance work, with commercial/institutional cleaning experience desirable.
  • Physical Ability: Physical ability to do heavy custodial work and operate cleaning equipment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow written instructions, chemical labels and warnings. Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and to deal courteously with students, faculty and staff.
