We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team at Publix Super Markets, Inc. in Orlando, FL. As a Refrigeration Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our industrial refrigeration systems, ensuring a climate-controlled environment for our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and operate industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and Freon systems.
- Conduct daily rounds to observe and record temperatures and humidity levels, making minor adjustments as needed.
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on refrigeration systems, including compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, and glycol systems.
- Train and mentor entry-level refrigeration technicians in daily operations, inspections, and repair techniques.
- Participate in improvement activities to enhance systems, minimize downtime, and prioritize work.
- Perform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, emptying trash, and sweeping floors.
Requirements:
- At least 18 years old.
- Ability to obtain EPA Section 608 certification within one year of hire.
- Ability to obtain medical clearance for respiratory protection within two weeks of hire.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 65 pounds.
- Experience using hand tools and ability to supply and maintain hand tools.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent work habits and conform to OSHA, PSM, HAZMAT, and Publix safety programs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to unplanned breakdowns, and work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in glycol, heat exchangers, HVAC, and water chiller systems.
- Experience in electrical systems, including single and three-phase motor systems, power distribution, and low-voltage controls.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting 480V C3 phase motor control systems.
- Experience in refrigeration, including maintaining and troubleshooting systems using ammonia or Freon.
