We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Patient Access Liaison, providing personalized and high-quality patient experiences. This pivotal role demands a unique blend of communication skills, technical proficiency, and empathy.

About the Role

The Patient Access Liaison is often the first point of contact for patients and their families, creating a lasting impression through professionalism, expertise, and dedication. As a representative of our organization, this role requires utmost attention to detail, ensuring accurate and timely collection of insurance and demographic information.

This full-time position involves working 40 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate variable schedules that may include days, evenings, or weekends. Occasional overtime may be required, with shifts scheduled between 6 AM and 12 AM. Our office is located in Ellsworth, Maine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors, delivering exceptional customer service via phone or in-person interactions.
  • Enter and update patient demographic and financial information efficiently, ensuring early registration.
  • Obtain necessary applications and forms, verifying signatures and photocopying/scanning documents as needed.
  • Provide patients with clear financial responsibility information, collecting liabilities and balancing cash boxes daily.
  • Collaborate with partnering departments to complete patient encounters comprehensively.
  • Offer wayfinding assistance and hospital information to patients and families.
  • Coordinate patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards as applicable.
  • Maintain high audit accuracy standards, addressing errors and seeking assistance proactively.
  • Ensure a safe environment by adhering to NLH policies and procedures, reporting hazards and addressing patient safety concerns.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A High School Diploma/GED or higher.
  • At least six months of experience in an office setting, customer service, phone support, or call center environment.
  • An intermediate level of proficiency with Windows applications.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with flexibility to accommodate variable schedules.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Influenza vaccination commitment for the current flu season.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $35,000 - $45,000 annually, depending on experience. The sign-on bonus is available to external candidates only.
