Job Summary:

AIP is seeking a skilled Alarm Monitor to support Customs and Border Protection in Harper's Ferry, WV. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring surveillance cameras and equipment, accessing control systems, and responding to emergency situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor surveillance cameras and equipment to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
  • Access control systems, fire alarms, intrusion detection systems, and other protective equipment/systems to maintain a secure environment.
  • Monitor and log radio transmissions using call signs to stay informed of potential threats.
  • Answer the telephone, take messages, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Dispatch and/or notify Security Guards of all unusual activity to ensure a swift response.
  • Report and document incidents, summon resources, and coordinate emergency personnel responding to emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a favorably single scope background investigation (SSBI) prior to commencing work.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical exam to include drug screening.
  • Must be in possession of a valid Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess either a high school diploma or a GED equivalency certificate.
  • Must be able to speak English fluently, read and comprehend written English, and compose coherent written reports in English.
  • Must be in possession of a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in his/her state of residence.
  • Must meet the criteria set forth in sub section 1.

Sub Section 1:

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in basic law enforcement, emergency dispatch, or related field.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Must communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing, maintain records, and prepare reports.
  • Must work independently with little direction.
  • Must maintain professional communication with local law enforcement agencies and fire departments.
  • Must respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner and provide training to other Alarm Monitors to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must utilize criminal justice databases provided by the Government to assist in the vetting of visitors and short-term contractors.
