We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Covenant Health (Tennessee).
About the JobThis is a full-time opportunity with 80 hours per pay period, day shift schedule. The successful candidate will perform basic nursing procedures on patients, assist physicians or practitioners with examinations and procedures, and maintain accurate patient records.
Job RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of related experience or be a new graduate with less than one year of experience. A Certified Medical Assistant certification is required, along with CPR certification.
Responsibilities- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Perform basic nursing procedures such as weighing patients, taking vital signs, and listening to fetal heart tones. Performs venipunctures, blood sugars, and other lab procedures as indicated.
- Retrieve initial basic evaluation of patient and report to appropriate practitioner.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families during visit; demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy.
- Assist physicians or practitioners with examinations, various OB/GYN procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and necessary equipment.
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient's medical records. Maintain all required reports, statistics, etc. Assist with filling out lab requests and filing lab results in patient's chart.
- Inspect area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when appropriate.
- Assist with cleaning instruments and cleaning and re-stocking examination rooms on a daily basis. Transport instruments to sterile processing as needed.
- Obtain informed consent after procedure has been explained to patient.
- Demonstrate competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to age-specific needs of the population served.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
