Job Summary

The City of San Angelo Texas is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team. As a Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing unskilled general labor and maintenance work for City parks, streets, facilities, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain park areas, including cleaning public restrooms, picking up litter, removing graffiti, inspecting playgrounds, and collecting trash.
  • Perform landscaping duties such as mowing, weed eating, tree removal, and pruning, as well as gardening duties like planting and weeding flower beds.
  • Make minor repairs such as painting, light carpentry, and minor plumbing, and assist in installing and/or repairing irrigation systems and water lines, signage, playground equipment, and other park amenities.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of specialized equipment and perform general manual labor tasks to maintain parks, streets, infrastructure, and City facilities.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed and perform maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, reporting safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and two years of general work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
  • Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods, work in extreme weather conditions, and lift and carry up to 117 pounds.

Work Environment:

The work is performed outdoors, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines is essential.
