Position Overview:
Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to support our Sports Medicine Surgeons. This role will involve travel to various locations to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the physician during office hours and hospital rounds to ensure an efficient patient flow.
- Act as a first assistant in surgical procedures when required, under the guidance of the Director of Allied Health and attending physician.
- Conduct hospital rounds for inpatients and provide comprehensive evaluations and treatments for orthopaedic patients.
- Engage in educational initiatives for nursing and physical therapy staff related to orthopaedic care.
- Support the physician with preoperative and postoperative patient instructions.
- Manage incoming calls, providing treatment instructions and medication guidance to patients and their families.
- Document all patient interactions and prepare necessary medical documentation.
- Coordinate with Homecare Nurses regarding patient care and necessary home equipment.
- Prepare discharge summaries and follow up with referring physicians post-surgery.
- Review patient charts and document relevant information prior to surgical procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations with residents and fellow healthcare professionals.
- Prescribe medications as needed and communicate with consulting physicians regarding patient care.
- Assist in hospital rounds for postoperative patients and contribute to research efforts as necessary.
- Embody the core values and culture of Rothman Orthopaedics.
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania Physician Assistant license and current CPR certification.
