Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for reviewing and processing additional compensation forms, entering payroll tax information and payroll deductions into the HR Direct Payroll system, and providing functional support with processing and maintaining retroactive funding changes and other funding-related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process additional compensation forms for accuracy and adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Enter payroll tax information and payroll deductions into the HR Direct Payroll system.
  • Provide functional support with processing and maintaining retroactive funding changes and other funding-related activities.
  • Work with HR staff, departmental Personnel Coordinators, and employees to promote an environment of 100% customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of relevant office experience.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, practices, and systems.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; ability to speak in front of others in a training environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and listening skills, as well as the know-how to probe for more information and/or to recognize when an issue needs to be escalated.
  • Ability to remain organized, prioritize work, and take ownership for work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while providing positive and professional experience to our customers.
  • Adept at working with diverse communities and with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PeopleSoft.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday, 8:30AM- 5:00PM, with 37.5 hours per week. The salary is Grade 13.
