The Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their care journey, with a strong emphasis on preparing for discharge and ensuring smooth transitions during the acute care stay. This role is pivotal in delivering and coordinating patient care alongside the caregiving team, ensuring that competent and compassionate care is consistently provided to all stakeholders, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients across inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

The Medical Cardiology unit features 29 beds, including 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms, and one 4-bedroom setup. Patients are admitted from various sources, including the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities requiring inpatient care. The patient demographic includes both male and female individuals, ranging from young adults to the elderly, who are acutely and chronically ill with diverse cardiac and medical conditions. Most patients require telemetry monitoring following minimally invasive and invasive cardiac procedures.

Hourly Range: $60.93

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, initiate IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, and document all treatments in accordance with company policy and local/state/federal regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess and identify patients' conditions.
  • Evaluate patient needs and responses to care provided.
  • Utilize sound nursing judgment in making patient care management decisions.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to develop a comprehensive Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Guide and direct ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program resulting in a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained and maintained.
  • Prior experience as a PCA or in a similar nursing assistance role is preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous education to enhance job performance.
  • Understanding of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools, with the ability to apply them to support departmental and patient care quality improvement.
