POSITION OVERVIEW
The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing and managing cost accounting information related to product manufacturing.

This role involves reviewing processes for procurement, warehousing, and distribution to accurately assign costs to each activity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct thorough analysis of operational costs, particularly in relation to inventory and cost of sales.

Evaluate actual manufacturing expenses and generate periodic reports on variances by comparing estimated costs to actual production expenses, providing insights to management.

Assess costs associated with business activities, including raw material acquisitions, inventory management, and labor.

Prepare and disseminate regular reports for executive review.

Engage in cycle counting and physical inventory audits.

Assist in the development and review of manufacturing budgets to establish labor and overhead rates.

Perform additional duties as required.


SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Preferred: 1 year of experience in cost accounting.
Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is advantageous.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Licenses or Certifications
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred but not mandatory.

Strong grasp of accounting principles.
Understanding of cost types (direct, indirect, fixed, variable, and inventoriable costs).
Finance and cost accounting analysis expertise.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Compose detailed reports and deliver professional presentations.
Effectively manage time and meet challenging deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may involve working in a standard office setting, with some responsibilities in the warehouse during inventory audits. Attendance at meetings may be required.
Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional extended hours during peak periods.
