Senior Middleware Systems Engineer

Position: Network / System Engineer V-Middleware

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement web-based application servers (Weblogic Server/Portal) within a UNIX environment for various applications and services.
- Diagnose intricate application integration challenges and collaborate with virtual team members across the organization to deliver sophisticated J2EE hosting solutions.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously while demonstrating adaptability to change. The ideal candidate should be self-driven, a strong leader, capable of influencing peers, and possess creative problem-solving skills.
- Work closely with application teams to deploy new applications in the Weblogic hosting environment, gathering configuration requirements and facilitating necessary changes with administrators and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Provide on-call support and maintain flexible working hours as required.
- Engage with customers (application and testing teams) daily, offering Middleware and Java support; act as a J2EE architect, recommending best practices in application development; design Middleware infrastructure and topology for high availability and failover; provide technical guidance to team members; communicate with business partners at an enterprise level; and collaborate with internal and external vendors throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 8-10 years supporting Middleware products such as Jboss, JBoss Datagrid, Weblogic, Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server, Apache, and similar technologies.
- Proven experience with J2EE in large-scale enterprise systems.
- Extensive scripting skills in Jython, Python, YAML, and Perl.
- Experience administering Middleware using tools like mDeliver, BladeLogic, etc.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for Middleware products utilizing various diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with peripheral systems (networking, load balancing, application development, operating systems) and monitoring systems (Splunk, Introscope, Sitescope, etc.).
- Knowledge of industry security standards.
- Ability to create documentation for troubleshooting, performance optimization, and remediation.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to both business and technical stakeholders.
