Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with potential Saturday rotation OR Monday - Friday 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM with potential Saturday rotation.

Your Role:

The Cytotechnologist is responsible for performing anatomical pathology procedures as licensed, exercising independent judgment with minimal supervision. This role involves complex procedures requiring extensive theoretical and practical knowledge in the licensed area(s). Adherence to the AdventHealth Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations is essential. The position demands active participation in exceptional customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with all stakeholders.

Your Contributions:

Responsibilities include:

1) Microscopic evaluation and reporting of negative gynecological thin layer slide preparations.

2) Microscopic evaluation and formulation of opinions for the pathologist regarding abnormal gynecological thin layer, non-gynecological, and fine needle aspiration slide preparations.

3) Correlating current cases with previous cytologic specimens as necessary.

+ Conducting pre-and post-analytical activities related to assigned tests, including specimen collection and processing, quality control, equipment maintenance, inventory management, quality assurance, and proficiency testing.

+ Performing molecular and ancillary testing from specimen vials and correlating findings with morphological data.

+ Assisting in data collection for research or publication purposes, with the ability to interpret published professional literature.

+ Completing routine screenings for cell specimens, documenting results, and maintaining daily workload records.

+ Processing specimens for analysis according to specific requirements.

+ Supporting the collection and processing of fine needle aspiration specimens.

+ Participating in data collection and special projects as assigned.

+ Demonstrating expertise in patient preparation, sample requirements, specimen collection, and pre-analytical factors that influence sample quality.

+ Documenting and submitting necessary laboratory, departmental, and staff statistics/reports.

+ Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent.

+ Successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

+ Certified Cytotechnologist (ASCP).

+ Must possess licensure as a Cytologist as applicable to the state and department assignment.
