Job DescriptionThe Labor and Delivery Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. The nurse utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintains a safe therapeutic environment, and identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.
Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet the needs of patients and document all patient care.
- Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement.
- Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and the skill of the staff.
- Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- 1 year of RN experience.
- Labor and Delivery experience required for PRN role.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification within 6 months.
- NRP certification within 6 months.
- AWHONN basic, intermediate, and advanced certifications within one year.
- CPI Training & Certification within 6 months.
- Current licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State.
