Overview

The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of our healthcare team, dedicated to enhancing the well-being of our young residents and fostering a nurturing environment.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support all functions within the Nursing Department as directed, adhering to established policies and procedures.

This position aims to deliver exceptional, comprehensive nursing care in line with professional standards and healthcare regulations governing nursing practice.

Lead and guide both licensed and unlicensed staff in providing direct care and support services to residents.


Key Responsibilities
Nursing Care Duties
  • Conduct daily nursing operations in compliance with current regulations and guidelines for pediatric care.
  • Ensure adherence to nursing policies and safety protocols by all assigned personnel.
  • Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring thorough documentation of care provided.
  • Facilitate the orientation of new residents and their families to our facility.
  • Conduct rounds with healthcare providers to assess resident needs.
  • Utilize nursing staff according to each resident's care plan and healthcare provider's orders.
  • Perform daily clinical rounds to evaluate the quality of care and report significant occurrences.
  • Address and resolve concerns from residents and their families, escalating issues to supervisors as necessary.
  • Participate in facility inspections and surveys as requested.
  • May oversee specific clinical programs such as infection control and quality assurance.

Communication and Documentation
  • Conduct initial assessments and develop interim care plans.
  • Update and review care plans to reflect goals and necessary revisions based on nursing assessments and healthcare provider orders.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to review treatment plans and ensure compliance with established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation to support care services.
  • Communicate departmental policies to staff, residents, and visitors.
  • Provide comprehensive reports regarding changes in resident conditions to nursing management.
  • Document and report any incidents involving residents or staff to the Director of Nursing.

Medication Management
  • Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of medications and equipment are available to meet resident needs.
  • Review medication administration records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Dispose of medications according to established procedures.

Staff Management
  • Assist in staffing adjustments to meet the nursing needs of residents.
  • Help develop work assignments and schedules for nursing staff.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide coaching and support as needed.

Safety and Sanitation
  • Ensure availability of protective equipment for staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness in nursing service areas and resident rooms.
  • Recommend necessary supplies and equipment to the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications
  • Current and active RN license in the state.
  • Experience in pediatric care, home care, or long-term care settings.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including lifting, standing, and walking, to provide effective care to residents.
