Job Summary:

As a Road Driver at FedEx Freight, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination to transport goods between Service Centers and/or turn-point locations. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples, to transport goods between locations

Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment to ensure compliance with regulations

Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer

Verify and complete required documentation and reports

Maintain accurate daily logs and comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures

Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required

Load and unload freight as needed

Requirements:

1 year of experience within the last 3 years or successful completion of the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course

Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards

Meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations

Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, and climb in and out of the truck

Basic written and verbal communication skills

Ability to follow instructions and complete required training

Working Conditions:

Drive long distances day and night on all types of roads and in all types of weather

Exposure to noise and vibration

Exposure to dust and diesel fumes

Exposure to hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations

Hours may vary due to operational need

Overnight stays may be required for some schedules

Preferred Qualifications:

Long combination vehicles (LCV) experience

Basic computer skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Demonstrates initiative and motivation

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
