Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer in Training to join our Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure (EMI) team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing structural analyses, designing new structures, and conducting finite element analyses.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural analyses under supervision and design new structures and repairs of existing structures.
- Conduct linear and nonlinear finite element analyses using programs such as Abaqus and ANSYS.
- Work on routine problems independently and on project teams.
- Assist in preparation of proposals, letters, reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
- Review work by technicians, draftsmen, and others assisting the project team.
- Conduct field inspections and support in-house lab work.
- Conduct engineering calculations using software such as Matlab and Mathcad.
- 0 – 2 years of professional experience in structural engineering or engineering mechanics.
- Bachelor or Master of Science or Engineering degree with an emphasis on structural analysis, structural dynamics, and/or engineering mechanics.
- Education/experience in finite element analysis (FEA) is preferred.
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration within five years.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with technical staff and clients.
- Proficient computer program skills, including programming languages such as Python and VBA.
- Ability to travel and perform field inspections of structures under supervision.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report, if applicable.
