Job Overview:
We are in search of a dynamic and experienced Property Accountant to join our fast-paced finance team. This role is pivotal in managing the accounting functions of our extensive property portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in general ledger management and financial statement preparation, particularly in property accounting. Key Responsibilities:
As a Property Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing the general ledger for all properties, ensuring precise and timely financial reporting.
2. Preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
3. Utilizing Yardi property management software for data entry, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
4. Conducting regular audits to ensure the accuracy of financial data and compliance with financial regulations and standards.
5. Collaborating with property managers and other stakeholders to resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.
6. Preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing financial expertise to support strategic decision-making.
7. Managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
8. Assisting with tax preparation and filing, including property taxes and income taxes.
9. Participating in financial meetings, presenting financial reports, and providing insights into financial performance and trends.
10. Continuously improving accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
To excel as a Property Accountant, you should possess:
1. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 1 year of experience in property accounting, public audit/advisory experience, or general ledger experience in another industry.
3. Proficiency in Yardi property management software is preferred but not mandatory.
4. Strong knowledge of general ledger functions, financial statement preparation, and accounting standards and regulations.
5. Excellent numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
6. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and accurately.
8. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
10. CPA certification is a plus.
