Culinary Specialist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our food preparation team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for patients, employees, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize all work areas for food production
  • Set up bars and lines
  • Restock, clean, and straighten as necessary
  • Gather ingredients efficiently according to recipe
  • Follow menu cycle, proper portions, and standardized recipes
  • Properly store, label, and date leftovers and products
  • Serve customers efficiently and remain focused on the customer and service throughout the encounter
  • Address customer complaints in a polite and professional manner
  • Document temperatures and ensure equipment is functioning properly
  • Present food items in an attractive and orderly arrangement
  • Communicate with servers regarding portion size, number of pans prepared, location of pans, and ingredients

Requirements:

  • Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from the local health department
  • Person In Charge certification within 90 days of hire
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year experience as a cook
