Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, providing basic life support and patient care in a pre-hospital setting.
  • Assess the nature and extent of injury or illness, establishing and prioritizing medical procedures to be followed.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical direction.
  • Communicate effectively with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and/or to arrange reception of patients to the appropriate center.
  • Maintain order at the scene in a professional manner to ensure patient care.
  • Complete patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion, as required by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Adhere to and follow all applicable policies and procedures concerning safety, contamination, and prevention of contamination by blood-borne pathogens.
  • Educate and train personnel, EMS trainees, and the public.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State of Pennsylvania EMT certification.
  • Pennsylvania-approved certification for CPR for the Professional Rescuer and/or American Heart Association BLS CPR and AED for the Healthcare Professionals.
  • Required continuing medical education credits as set forth by the State EMS office.
  • EMSVO certification.
  • Hazardous Materials R&I.
  • NIMS 100, 200, and 700.
  • Valid driver's license.
