Medical Laboratory Assistant

The Clinical Medical Laboratory Assistant is a key member of our laboratory team, responsible for providing clerical and patient care support, particularly in specimen collection and processing. This role may involve patient registration, specimen accessioning, and waived laboratory testing.
Key Responsibilities- Complete technical tasks such as specimen accessioning, preparation, and processing, as well as specimen delivery and storage.
- Perform clerical tasks and specimen accessioning in accordance with testing protocols and criteria.
- Maintain laboratory operations by performing equipment maintenance, quality control, and preventive maintenance.
- Perform waived laboratory testing, document patient reports, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Provide feedback that is useful and assist in individual improvement.
- Actively engage in and support efforts to develop an atmosphere of mutual respect and inclusiveness.
- Participate in continuing education programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification, preferred.
- CPR certification preferred for applicable positions.
- Technical skills, organizational skills, ability to multitask, attention to detail, and computer experience required.
- Interpersonal relationship skills to collaborate with internal and external customers.
- Effective in both written and oral communications.
- Efficient in collaborative and independent work.
This role is located in the Grove City Laboratory Services, 2047 Stringtown Rd, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
