Project Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Planning, Development and Natural Resources (PDNR) team at McKim & Creed. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical and design services in support of land (site) development projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical and design services in support of land (site) development projects.
  • Reporting regularly to Project Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Conducting preliminary/due diligence evaluations, preparing various reports, producing design and construction drawings, preparing technical specifications, and preparing permit submittals for civil engineering projects.
  • Working as part of a project team, managing project tasks, and providing direction to team members.
  • Performing various tasks on several concurrent projects and following these tasks through to completion within the allocated period of time and the monetary budget assigned.
  • Coordinating with regulatory agencies.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • NC PE or ability to acquire NC PE quickly through reciprocity.
  • AutoCAD 2016 Civil 3d experience.
  • Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software including Hydraflow and StormCAD (or similar product).
  • Technically competent, a team player, and good communications ability required.
  • Proven record of technical competency, willingness to work as a team player, and good communications skills.
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in land development projects, specifically site layout, grading, erosion control, water and sewer utilities, and stormwater management.
  • Stormwater management experience should include design of wet detention ponds, infiltration systems, pipe drainage systems, and familiarity with the NCDEMLR Stormwater Management Program.
  • 2-3 years of experience managing land development design tasks within budget and on schedule.
