Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Novant Health. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing analytical evaluations of blood and body fluids, conducting laboratory procedures, and reporting laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation
  • Conduct a full range of laboratory tests, including analytical evaluations of blood and body fluids
  • Report laboratory results and communicate with medical staff
  • Assist in the evaluation of new and modified techniques
  • Advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology or MT program
  • One year experience as a laboratory scientist, preferred
  • Scientist Cert from ASCP or AMT, required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • New graduates and new hires must obtain certification within 12 months of hire
  • Knowledge of current medical terminology
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing
  • Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests
  • Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations
  • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
