Nurse Care Specialist

As a Registered Nurse at DirectEmployers, you will be responsible for overseeing, implementing, and ensuring the quality of medical and health-related services provided to residents. This role requires a strong background in nursing, with specialized experience in the diagnosis and treatment of developmentally disabled persons.
Key Responsibilities
• Report significant findings to the physician and Program Manager for follow-up.
• Observe residents requiring a nursing care plan for signs of illness or dysfunction and document status in monthly progress notes.
• Develop nursing care plans for residents whose routine health care requires service that can only be performed by a health professional, complete quarterly reviews and assessments.
• Attend IDT meetings to participate in habilitation planning for residents.
• Complete monthly progress notes by the tenth of the month for the preceding month, accurately prepared and submitted by the Registered Nurse to the Residence Manager.
• Prepare accurate monthly medication and diet orders, completed and submitted to the physician no later than one week prior to the stop date on current order.
• Prepare nursing care plans annually and review monthly, with progress noted in quarterly reports and revised if necessary in accordance with changing daily health care needs.
• Transmit medication and diet order sheets to the physician for signature for each 30-day medication cycle.
• Obtain prescriptions and immediately check against medication order sheets for accuracy.
• Complete pourings and initial medication administration certification process.
• Complete annually all recertifications of approved medication administration personnel.
Requirements
• Licensed to practice in the State of New York (Registered Nurse)
• Bachelor's Degree
• Specialized experience in the diagnosis and treatment of developmentally disabled persons
• Computer-literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Light physical activity, may be required to travel between local sites
