About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Forensic Nursing Specialist to join our team at UNC Health Appalachian. This is a dynamic opportunity for a dedicated healthcare professional who shares our commitment to providing exceptional patient care and support.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and support organizations to ensure comprehensive and sensitive care for survivors of sexual assault. As a Forensic Nursing Specialist, you will conduct clinical examinations, collect and preserve forensic evidence, and provide medical care and treatment for injuries related to sexual assault.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Examination: Conduct comprehensive and trauma-informed physical examinations of sexual assault survivors, collecting and preserving forensic evidence using standardized protocols.
  2. Medical Care and Treatment: Provide appropriate medical care and treatment for injuries related to sexual assault, administering prophylactic medications as per established protocols.
  3. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all clinical findings and interventions, preparing and submitting detailed reports for legal and medical purposes.
