Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure comprehensive patient care by assessing both physical and psychosocial requirements.
  • Implement the patient's care plan, which includes explaining surgical procedures and facilitating communication among team members.
  • Foster a supportive and professional environment to enhance the surgical experience for patients.

Pre-Operative Duties:
  • Take the lead in verifying all pre-operative information and preparing patients for their surgical procedures.
  • Contact patients scheduled for surgery the following day to provide necessary pre-operative information.
  • Follow up with patients from previous surgeries to monitor their recovery.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Post-Operative Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the recovery of patients who have received general anesthesia or monitored anesthesia care.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding patient conditions to the anesthesia provider.
  • Assess, plan, and implement care tailored to each patient, adhering to BSC policies and physician orders.
  • Ensure that patients' physical and psychosocial needs are met prior to discharge.
  • Document all relevant information in the EMR.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years of peri-operative nursing experience is required.
  • Must hold a current New York State RN license.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred, with additional experience of 3-5 years being advantageous.
