Job Summary:

As a Biomed Equipment Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of biomedical equipment. Under general supervision, you will provide and document preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of mechanical, electrical, and electronic biomedical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform and document biomedical equipment repairs, as well as test all new and repaired biomedical equipment before it is put into use.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance, as well as electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements.
  • Investigate and recommend remedial action on incidents involving biomedical equipment.
  • Ensure that an inventory of biomedical equipment, replacement parts, and standby equipment necessary to minimize disruption of patient care is maintained.
  • Assist in training medical, nursing, and paramedical staff in the safe use of biomedical equipment.
  • Provide technical support on new and replacement biomedical equipment and review work performed by outside service vendors to ensure defined specifications are met and results are properly documented.
  • Stay up-to-date with current developments in biomedical equipment and systems.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two (2) years of electronic medical repair experience.
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology or two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.
