Role Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for managing and executing ultrasound examinations in collaboration with nursing staff, radiologists, and referring physicians. This role demands adherence to established protocols while ensuring optimal patient care throughout the examination process. Proficiency in operating ultrasound machinery and related equipment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and confirm examination requests for each patient assigned.
  • Assist Radiologists during invasive procedures as required.
  • Assess the technical quality of ultrasound exams and implement improved techniques to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Embrace the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy, recognizing that every staff member plays a crucial role in addressing patient needs.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Utilize the Radiology information system for entering and processing exams and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all areas are adequately stocked.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures while consistently demonstrating professionalism.

Physical Requirements
This position requires moderate to significant physical exertion, including lifting and moving patients and equipment, with weights up to 600 pounds with assistance. The role involves walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting as part of regular duties. Strong cognitive skills are necessary for interpreting patient orders and technical documentation, along with the motor skills required to operate both heavy and delicate equipment. A functional sense of sight and hearing is essential.

Qualifications

Candidates must be certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. A graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required in accordance with policy guidelines. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
