About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Tucson, AZ. As a key member of our Earth & Environment Team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex multi-discipline engineering projects and field engineering services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop technical calculations, engineering designs, equipment sizing, data sheets, specifications, and P&IDs.
  • Provide engineering support to mechanical and pipeline studies, including design of mine process plant systems, pump stations, mechanical systems, and associated facilities.
  • Coordinate between different engineering disciplines to ensure effective implementation of system designs.
  • Support project funding documents, such as cost estimates, equipment bid summaries, and authorization requests.
  • Assist in field project coordination, engineering services, and troubleshooting with direct client interface under the supervision of senior engineer.
  • Assist with writing and/or reviewing technical reports.
  • Support proposals in response to client requests for proposal.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working in the mining sector, heavy industry, or similar.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and application to project work-related issues.
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software, including AutoCAD.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in Arizona, approximately 10% overnight travel.
  • Must pass background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Good problem solver with ability to identify alternative solutions.
