POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is an integral part of the Patient Care Services Team, tasked with ensuring the effective delivery of nursing care by the nursing staff. The RN oversees and administers patient care activities for a designated group of patients and their families, utilizing independent judgment, effective communication, and collaboration with all team members, including ancillary and support services. The role of the RN encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, education, and supervision.
Key Responsibilities of the DMC RN:
• Develops and sustains collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Delegates, assesses, provides, and evaluates patient care.
• Assigns and oversees patient care tasks to team members.
• Monitors patient progress and prepares patients for discharge.
• Reports directly to senior management and engages in shared decision-making processes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
3. Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.
4. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.
