About the Role
The Thermoplastic Process Engineer at American Polymer Company will play a crucial lead role in establishing molding conditions, integrating new projects into production, and driving continuous improvement. They will ensure that products run within quality standards and meet all production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish process conditions through molding for new products, utilizing expertise in injection molding and ancillary equipment.
- Troubleshoot molding processes and material or equipment issues to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
- Evaluate tooling for areas of concern, areas of improvement for quality and efficiency, and recommend improvements to optimize molding, setup, and overall manufacturing.
- Collect and analyze data on individual processes to identify and improve process capability, applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques.
- Document and maintain mold process sheets for accuracy and ensure seamless knowledge transfer.
- Support operators through training in molding practices, emphasizing the importance of communication and teamwork.
- Take a leadership role in continuous improvement and cost reduction activities, driving innovation and excellence.
- Program robots and peripheral equipment to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in injection molding, with expertise in low and high pressure molding.
- A working knowledge and experience with injection molding and ancillary equipment, including thermoplastic materials and their properties.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail, utilizing root cause analysis techniques.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
