Job Overview

Triumph Construction Corp. is seeking a seasoned Site Safety and Health Officer to lead our construction sites in adhering to strict safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and fostering a culture of safety among all site personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a comprehensive log of findings, including recommended corrective actions and estimated dates of completion.
  • Investigate mishaps and complete required accident reports, ensuring timely reporting and documentation.
  • Utilize OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses, making the log available to the Contracting Officer upon request.
  • Maintain relevant safety reference materials on the job site, ensuring easy access for all personnel.
  • Attend pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings, and in-progress meetings to ensure safety protocols are understood and implemented.
  • Review and approve the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Associated Hazard Analysis (AHA) for compliance with EM and AHAs.
  • Establish and maintain a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System to monitor and resolve outstanding deficiencies.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements, conducting regular audits and providing guidance as needed.
  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site, along with their Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and provide regular updates to site personnel.
  • Prepare and present weekly reports on high-hazard activities, including energy, equipment, excavation, confined space entry, and elevation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters, ensuring timely communication and resolution.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction safety, with a focus on heavy civil projects.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health, First Aid/CPR certification required. Additional certifications such as CHST or CSP are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices in the construction industry.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
