Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various laboratory analyses, including raw material, production, shipping, and developmental samples. They will ensure that all products meet internal and customer requirements by approving completed products. Additionally, they will recommend any necessary product adjustments or actions to production based on sample test results, formula guidelines, experience, and other experts as necessary.

The ideal candidate should have experience operating a variety of laboratory analytical test equipment, including setup and calibration. They should also be able to use statistical programs to evaluate results and maintain accurate records of all data taken using the LIMS system, batch cards, notebooks, reports, and checklists.

They will collect and maintain product samples, properly labeled, sorted, and stored for all lots in process and final acceptance. The candidate should participate in continuous improvement activities for laboratory, laboratory/production interactions, and production processes.

In addition, the successful candidate will maintain the laboratory in a safe, organized, neat, well-stocked, functional condition. This includes cleaning work areas, submitting purchase requests for depleted items, preparing replacement stock solutions, maintaining method calibrations, monitoring lab chemical and reagent shelf life, and repairing or notifying others of malfunctioning equipment.

They will also participate in site safety and environmental programs and perform various clerical duties relating to lab responsibilities. The candidate should maintain active certification in first-aid techniques and administer as needed in site emergencies.

Effective communication is essential for this role, as the candidate will need to communicate pertinent information to other shifts, staff, and plant personnel on a timely basis. They will prepare weekly reports on progress toward yearly goals.
