Position Overview

The Neuro Imaging Technologist will play a crucial role in supporting the evolving technological demands of intricate neurosurgical and neurological diagnostic and interventional procedures within the Neuro lab and hybrid surgical suite. This position will also encompass otorhinolaryngology cases and other necessary services in the operating room.

This clinical and technical role involves hands-on engagement with various imaging and navigation systems (including Brain Lab, Stealth, Fusion, Vision Sense, and VTI) that assist surgeons during complex head and spine operations, as well as ultrasound and injector technologies for vascular and neurological diagnostics and interventions. The technologist will evaluate daily technology requirements based on scheduled procedures and ensure all equipment is prepared and operational. Proactive management of schedules to identify needs and resolve conflicts related to technology is essential. Pre-procedural tasks include preparing images for reference during procedures, while intra-procedural responsibilities involve operating specialized equipment and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies. Post-procedural duties include data management from navigation systems and inventory oversight of specialized supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize radiology equipment effectively, ensuring optimal patient positioning to generate high-quality images.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot radiology equipment, coordinating service calls and communicating issues to incoming staff.
  • Engage with patients to build trust, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the examination process.
  • Assist radiologists and medical team members in executing procedures according to established protocols.
  • Respond to emergencies in accordance with departmental policies, ensuring patient safety at all times.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing as per section protocols.
  • Stay updated with advancements in technology and procedures relevant to the role.
  • Support neurosurgery and ENT operating room cases utilizing advanced imaging systems.
  • Prepare neuro/oto cases by integrating images across multiple systems and conducting pre-use checks of imaging equipment.
  • Perform registration routines intraoperatively, merging mapping data with prior scans to finalize imaging plans.
  • Assist surgeons with technical issues related to imaging systems during procedures.
Experience and Qualifications

0-2 years of relevant experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have assisted in neurovascular interventions.

Education: High School/GED and an Associate's degree from an AMA-approved Diagnostic Radiology program.

Licenses/Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Registry Radiology Tech license, and NJ Radiology Tech License are mandatory.

Skills and Competencies
  • Proficiency in various imaging, ultrasound, and neuro-navigation systems, including Siemens, Sonosite, Power Injector, Brain Lab, Stealth, Fusion, Vision Sense, and VTI.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Work Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours per week, structured as four 10-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 5 PM, with an on-call rotation requiring a 30-minute response time.
