Tact Staff is seeking a highly skilled Travel Nurse RN to join our team in a Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide critical care to premature and sick newborns, utilizing the nursing process to deliver high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate all care provided to assigned patients, ensuring a newborn's critical care treatment is secure.
- Deliver care based on standards of care and practices established by the Department of Nursing and other policies and procedures.
- Diagnose and treat human responses to actual and potential health problems through case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive or restorative care.
- Supervise patient care provided by licensed practical nurses, registered nurses on permit, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff.
- Assess the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient and parent(s), providing respiratory care support and ensuring ventilator equipment is functioning properly.
- Feed NICU patients via bottle, nasogastric (NG) tubes, or IV, setting up IV pumps and maintaining feeding rates.
- Measure abdominal girth and check for stools for blood, start IVs, and draw blood as needed.
- Assess IV and draw sites for skin breakdown and skin damage, working with physicians and upper-level nursing to develop and assist with treatment and examination of patients.
- Develop comprehensive and current plans of care, including physical needs, caregiver teaching, discharge planning, home care, and psychosocial/spiritual needs.
- Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and the medical regimen, overseeing and ensuring the provision of all aspects of care for the patient.
- Supervise the care provided by other nursing personnel, observing, evaluating, documenting, and communicating to relevant team members the patient's response to illness and/or therapeutic modalities.
- Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and when significant changes occur in patient condition and/or diagnosis, coordinating the overall plan of care to ensure implementation of nursing interventions and consistency with medical regimen.
- Establish priorities for care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and initiate follow-up as indicated to ensure timely provision of patient care and therapeutic modalities.
- 1+ year of experience in emergency or critical care setting.
- 1+ year of experience in pediatric setting.
Nights 8P-8:30A, 3 days per week, and every other weekend required. No RTO will be accommodated.
