Vocational Instructor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vocational Instructor - Culinary Arts to join our team at Management and Training Corporation. As a Vocational Instructor - Culinary Arts, you will be responsible for providing vocational instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula.

Reports to the senior instructor. Responsible for providing vocational instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula. Provides inmates with basic direction in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives.

1. Deliver individualized competency-based instruction through classroom and laboratory management in the occupation program areas taught to inmates.
2. Develop performance objectives and criterion-referenced tests in accordance with established program content, incorporate written and skill assessments.
3. Review, select and adapt instructional materials to help individuals reach mastery of the competencies required for entry, advancement, and upgrading occupations.
4. Plan activities to efficiently initiate budget request to assure that all equipment, supplies, and materials are available to support a progressive training schedule.
5. Monitor motivation, discipline, and learning difficulties to bring about positive changes in the behavior of offenders.
6. Execute all applicable forms to adhere to facility procedures.
7. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
8. Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

Bachelor's degree in the vocation certified to teach, or high school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years' experience in the vocation being taught and valid secondary teaching certification issued by Florida Department of Education required. A Valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
