Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality and Safety RN to join our team at UofL Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality and safety in patient care, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Abstract and analyze data from patient medical records to identify areas for quality improvement.
  • Develop and implement action plans to address quality and safety concerns, ensuring follow-through and loop closure.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing directors, and other stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of care and develop policies and procedures.
  • Identify and document hospital-based performance improvement variances and complications.
  • Analyze mortality and complications data to identify areas for improvement and education.
  • Develop and coordinate projects to enhance the Performance Improvement, Peer Review, and Patient Safety Program.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary projects to achieve the hospital's goal of becoming a 5-star Vizient organization.
  • Assess the need for and facilitate the development of ongoing physician practice evaluation triggers.
  • Generate annual report information and prepare statistical data.
  • Participate in patient safety-related research and provide data to investigators.
  • Stay informed of Joint Commission requirements for triennial accreditation standards.
  • Complete case reviews and analyses for contributing factors to variance in care and/or complications.
  • Support the Medical Staff departments in identifying and selecting opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee physician peer review data entry and preparation of monthly OPPE and FPPE reports.
  • Attend Medical Staff Peer Review meetings and serve as a liaison between committees.
  • Prepare quarterly peer review reports for submission to ULH committees.
  • Facilitate the creation of physician-department Performance Improvement Committees.
  • Attend safety huddles to report safety trends.
  • Participate in Joint Commission survey activities as a PI and Peer Review expert.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required, Master of Science in Nursing or other healthcare-related master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of acute care, hospital-based clinical experience in the area of intended practice.
  • Previous experience in academic teaching hospital preferred.
