Position Overview

The Field Service Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of air compressor systems. This position involves both shop and field responsibilities, focusing on the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various air compressor units and their components.

Key Responsibilities

As a Service Technician, your primary duties will include:

  • Executing technical tasks such as mechanical and electrical repairs, along with troubleshooting of compressed air systems and related accessories.
  • Responding to emergency repair requests for compressed air systems during regular hours and after-hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Conducting scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on air compressor systems and their components.
  • Interpreting operational manuals, electrical schematics, and equipment literature to effectively perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Applying basic mathematical skills for tasks such as totaling work orders and utilizing compressed air formulas.
  • Utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, as well as electric meters and material handling equipment in the execution of your duties.
  • Identifying faulty operations and defective materials, reporting these issues to the service manager promptly.
  • Adhering to safety regulations while maintaining clean and organized work areas, including company vehicles and job sites.
  • Traveling to job sites using a company vehicle, with occasional overnight travel required.
Additional Responsibilities

In addition to the primary duties, you may also:

  • Engage in tasks that require the use of welding tools, winches, pulleys, hoists, and pallet jacks.
  • Be responsible for towing trailers or portable air compressors using a company vehicle.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A solid understanding of compressed air systems and their components, including mechanical operations and associated hazards.
  • The ability to interpret schematics and operational manuals for practical application in repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Fundamental mathematical skills necessary for various operational tasks.
  • A commitment to safety, including the use of personal protective equipment to mitigate risks associated with electrical shock and loud noises.
  • Proficiency in using mechanical tools for the repair and maintenance of compressed air systems.
  • The capability to work in non-climate controlled environments, adapting to outdoor weather conditions.
  • The physical ability to perform tasks that include extended periods of standing, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 100 lbs throughout the workday.
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience or training, or a combination of both education and experience.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Record that complies with company policy.
