We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team at Polk County Public Schools. As a key member of our District Behavior Team, you will provide short-term, intensive behavior interventions for students in crisis.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with school personnel to promote an educational climate that facilitates student success and academic achievement.
- Provide direct support to students in need of behavioral services.
- Assist in developing behavioral plans for students who exhibit extreme disruptive or noncompliant behavior.
- Implement behavior intervention procedures for students needing behavior training.
- Collect and calculate data to inform instruction and support student growth.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Two years of related experience.
- District adopted crisis response training and certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Valid Driver License.
Employees in this position work in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and the ability to respond to changing goals, priorities, and needs. This position requires traveling to various school sites and work locations throughout the district.
Physical DemandsThe work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
